Our Opening Sequence

Opening Sequence: Dark Knight Rises

Opening Sequence to Batman: Dark Knight Rises.
This film is part of the Batman saga. It is set in a deserted mountain range, I feel that it is first set here so that it increases the level of mystery within the opening sequence. The opening scene shows a fighter plane which sets the scene, as it automatically adds an extra level of danger. It has many underlying themes such as justice and fear. The opening sequence goes straight in with the level of fear by it being in a deserted area, and set on a plane, it also has a lot of shouting and use of guns. The first thing that we see is the mountains, there is also many other key things that set the film off. Many props are used to draw the audience in, the use of guns and the fact the man has a head cover and is tied up adds to the suspense and mystery. The story is told by the characters themselves, there is no narrator. The first person we see is an elder man who has a look of mystery about him, who is strapped in the chair and looking around. He looks worried and slightly confused, this intrigues the watcher to find out who he is and what his purpose is on the plane. Next you see a group of men, two of the men are in army uniform which represents the importance of them. There is also two men with bags covering there heads, this is very abnormal which shows the watcher that there is a level of danger, this makes the watcher want to find out who these men are and the reasons behind them being tied up. Next there is a fairly normal looking man who is wearing normal clothes, but is holding a gun and shouting, this makes us want to know who the man holding the gun is and what he wants with the men that he has tied up. Just from the opening scene we as the audience get a sense of the genre as action and a thriller, this excites the audience and leaves them wanting to watch on.
